William Hudnut, a former four-term mayor of Indianapolis (1977-1991)
and U.S. representative, is now an author, public speaker, TV commentator,
think tank fellow, and member of the clergy. He currently occupies
the Urban Land Foundation/Joseph C. Canizaro Chair for Public
Policy at the Urban Land Institute in Washington, D.C. As a mayor,
Hudnut established a national reputation for revitalizing his city, and
came to be regarded as an entrepreneurial leader willing to take
prudent risks. His stated goal was to build a "cooperative, compassionate
and competitive" city. He is a past president of the National League
of Cities and a much sought-after speaker, “spirited…with high energy
eloquence,” (The Toledo Blade) Hudnut “gives life to the word charismatic”
(The Cincinnati Enquirer).
