Area churches, schools, and civic groups in the grantham community have teamed up with COTA(Children's organ transplant association) to conduct a fundraising benefit. All proceeds from this event will be used to assist ABBY KEEN a 14 year old freshman at Southern Wayne High School who suffers from a very rare type of liver disease(her father died a few years ago of liver cancer) with expenses related to a life saving liver transplant. PSC(Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis is a liver disease of the bile ducts and is most commonly found in men and is a progressive liver disease that the only known treatment is a tranplant. Due to enlarged spleen her blood clotting abilities are compromised, yet her spleen is acting as a resevoir and is housing her white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets and is at the same time destroying all three. She is a former cheerleader, softball player, dancer, and maintains a 4.337 grade point average and is ranked 7th out of 323 classmates. Abby is a active member of the Southern Wayne High School FFA.
