CREATIVE INSPIRATIONS ART SHOW
GOLDSBORO, N.C. –The Getaway Coffeehouse Café, located at 115 E. Walnut Street in downtown Goldsboro, has been looking a little bit different the past three weeks. The added brightness inside comes from the paintings on the walls – this artwork is a creative result of efforts from people all over the Eastern United States, from Florida and Mississippi to North and South Carolina, to help the youth of Goldsboro.
Erica Marsh, a member of the Air Force and currently stationed at Seymour Johnson, is the founder of International Inspirations. Recently she and International Inspirations teamed up with the Boys and Girls Club of Goldsboro to establish a Creative Inspirations school program. Marsh recognizes the value of the Boys and Girls Club in providing a safe place for children after school and wants to ensure that those students can express themselves positively through art and music. Through this partnership the idea for an art auction was conceived and Lisa Prairie, owner of the Getaway, agreed to host the display and auction.
On Friday, February 24th, at 7:00 p.m., the Getaway Coffeehouse Café will be hosting a reception and closing ceremony to auction off the art. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Creative Inspirations art and music project at the Goldsboro Boys and Girls Club to restore the arts and crafts room, resupply it with the necessary materials, and collect musical instruments that would be available for the children to use and to begin offering art and-or music classes weekly.
International Inspirations is an organization dedicated to provide creative outlets for children in the hopes of keeping creative growth alive for our community’s youth. Their website is http://international-inspiration.org.
