Family Treasure Hunt
Wayne County families are invited to hunt for clues to a "treasure" this Saturday morning.
The free, all-ages event will begin at 10am Saturday, March 7th in the parking lot behind the Wayne County Public Library on Ash St in Goldsboro and conclude about 90 minutes later with the awarding of a treasure chest of goodies, including some Wayne County products. Refreshments will be served. The hunt is open to the public and all who come dressed as their favorite pirate receive a special prize.
The event is being held in connection with Wayne County Reads 2009, which is providing all kinds of pirate-related activities for the community as it explores the book "Blackbeard: America's Most Notorious Pirate" by Angus Konstam. Go to www.waynecountyreads.com for a schedule.
Wayne County Reads is a one book, one-community project now in its sixth year. Current partners are the Arts Council of Wayne County, Mount Olive College, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Wayne Community College, Wayne County Carolina Club/UNC-CH General Alumni Association, Wayne County Historical Association, Wayne County Public Library, and Wayne County Public Schools.
