Vietnam veteran & Medal of Honor recipient Joe Marm Saturday December 14th, 1pm Joe is a veteran of the US Army and served as an officer in Vietnam. He took part in the Battle of Ia Drang in November 1965, the first major battle for US forces. The battle was depicted in the 2002 film We Were Soldiers, starring Mel Gibson. For his heroism at Ia Drang, Marm was awarded the Medal of Honor, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. His talk will focus on this early phase of the war and his experiences as a young cavalry officer. The presentation will be no longer than 1 hour and will be held on the second floor of the Wayne County Museum. It is free and open to the public.
