Jaycees 4th of July Parade & Festival
The Goldsboro Jaycees are organizing Goldsboro's very first ever Fourth of July celebration to be held in downtown Goldsboro this year. The event will be held on Wednesday, July 4th from 11am -4pm. The event is being held on the 4th as opposed to the weekend prior to or after the holiday as is the tradition of surrounding local towns so as not to compete with those events. There will be a Parade beginning at 11:00am that will feature local dignitaries, fire trucks, Ubi the Clown and other patriotic patrons. The Jaycees continue to seek parade participants. There is no fee for walkers and the fee for most other entries is $15. Also planned is a Street Festival of sorts from 1pm - 4pm on the 100 North Block of John Street and the 200 East Block of Walnut Street. Vendors will include popcorn, cotton candy, pizza, hot dogs, and sandwiches. BBQ will also be provided by Owen Jackson, who will be soon serving the downtown area from Tuesday through Thursday. Entertainment will also be from 1pm - 4pm and will include Ubi the Clown, Karen Tiede and her dance hoops, Brandon Foy, who will be performing acoustic folk music from 2pm - 3pm, and the head line band from 3pm - 4pm will be Stephen Reaves and Jeremy Owens, who will be performing Pop Rock music. Other entertainment will continue to be added. A Kids’ Zone will also be set up in the empty lot adjacent to Walnut and William Streets where the Community Building once stood. The Kids’ Zone will include a Jumpy Bounce and Rock Wall and Slide. The Jaycees are still looking for vendors for this event including arts and craft vendors and patrons that wish to sell their items as a fundraiser. Vendor fees are $25. Both the Parade application and the Vendor application can be picked up at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce at 308 N. William Street or found on-line at the Chamber's website at www.waynecountychamber.com. Completed Parade and Vendor applications can be mailed to: The Goldsboro Jaycees, Post Office Box 463, Goldsboro, NC 27533 and must be received by June 29th to avoid a late fee.
