Susan Dunn to perform Feburary 19th
The Mount Olive College Recital Series presents Susan Dunn on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 7:30PM in Rodgers Chapel. Susan Dunn, a music professor at Duke University, has appeared at numerous events across the country including Sieglinde in Die Walküre at Carnegie Hall, and as Leonora in Verdi's Il trovatore with the Metropolitan Opera. She began her career appearing in operas throughout the United States, making her debut in Verdi’s Aida. Dunn also recorded Verdi's Requiem with Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony that year which won a Grammy Award. In addition to opera, she appeared with the New York Philharmonic as a soloist and made her professional debut in Europe as Hélène in Sicilian Vespers at the Teatro Comunale. Throughout her career, Dunn has performed as a solo recitalist and chamber musician at places such as Avery Fisher Hall and Lincoln Center. Her repertoire consists primarily of Irish ballads, German art songs, and vocal arrangements of Chopin. Mount Olive College hosts four Recital Series concerts each year, offering a variety of artists such as concert pianists, string quartets, jazz ensembles, opera singers, and chamber music ensembles.
