About Us

Creating Life Skills With Those We Serve.

Skill Creations, Inc was established in August 1985 by Paul Hackmann (CEO Emeritus) in Goldsboro, NC. We provide support and care that promotes independence for adults with disabilities. We specialize in Intermediate Care Facilities (ICF), Alternative Family Living (AFL), Day Programs, B3 supports, Innovations Waiver supports, and Emergent Need Respite Care. SCI is CARF certified as of 2016.

Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID) is an intense level of service that is provided in a residential setting. The facilities are under strict federal regulations and standards that are monitored regularly by a state survey team. The funding source for this service is Medicaid. We currently have 20 homes that are ICF/IID that range in size from 6-bed to 15-bed models.

Our Community Operations division operates a number of Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) group homes, licensed Day Programs, a regional respite center, and multiple AFL homes across the state.

In addition, we also have a Child Development Center in Goldsboro, NC called Creative Academy. Creative Academy is a private, non-profit child care center and preschool serving children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. This facility received a 5-star license from the Division of Child Development, and continues to hold that license. An Afterschool Program was started here in Fall 2022. For enrollment questions, please contact COO - Brooke King at 919-587-9425.
